A conservatory trained teacher who brings the love of music to students of the piano.
I teach piano to students of all ages who range from kids who are just starting out on their music learning journey to adults who are finding the time to reignite their desire for art and music.
I’m a conservatory trained pianist and teacher. I took lessons through RCM (Canada) from childhood until I entered college so I am aware of the challenges and rewards of setting aside enough time and energy to learn the piano. The investment of time in learning music theory and harmony as well as the discipline needed to prepare for recitals and exams really helped me later as a professional musician.
Continuing education is also very important to me. I’ve taken classes to obtain certifications for Elementary (Prep A – Level 4) and Intermediate (Level 5 – Level 8) teaching with The Royal Conservatory (RCM). Continual learning whether through your own practice/study or guided by a teacher is important for musicians so I try to set a great example for my own students.

For the majority of my students, I build a lesson program that has long-term growth in mind including technique, ear-training, music theory, harmony and recital pieces.
The piano is a tremendous instrument on which to start a lifetime of musical enjoyment…skills learned here transfer to any other instrument. Let’s talk about what you’d like to accomplish!

Piano Resources
The majority of my students are using the Alfred Basic Piano Library method. I love teaching this method to all ages of students. At each level, there’s a separate book that isolates lesson content plus the necessary theory and technique to support each lesson level. This method is working very well with students from ages 7 to 70! Here’s a link to the Alfred web site for more information on the books.
As students progress in skill, I will augment our teaching program with additional materials based on where the student wants to develop. Some of my students love a more classical approach, so I’ll augment with RCM content…some want to folks more on playing rock or pop music…or developing their own songwriting muses.
